Japan Alumni Meeting / Tunisia

On July 11, 2024, the first Japan alumni meeting was held in Tunis. This event was co-organized by the prestigious University of Tsukuba, the Embassy of Japan in Tunisia, and the J-MENA Project at Kyushu University, with JICA and UTTAA as partners.

Approximately 60 participants attended the meeting, including Tunisian alumni from Japanese Universities and Japanese professors. Alumni from various Japanese Universities such as “University of Tsukuba, Kyushu University, Tohoku University, Hokkaido University, University of Tokyo, University of the Ryukyus, Nagoya University, Okayama University, Osaka University, Seikei University, Gifu University, and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology” participated at the meeting.

The event was opened by His Excellency Mr. OSUGA Takeshi, the Ambassador of Japan in Tunisia, Prof. NAGATA Kyosuke, President of the University of Tsukuba, and Professor SHIMIZU Shuji, Vice president of Kyushu University. Dr. Khaoula BENSAIDA, a Project Assistant Professor at the J-MENA Project, highlighted the role of the project in building connections with the alumni network. Dr. KEFI Mohamed provided an overview of UTTAA and its activities during the event. Dr. Nadia Sendi shared her experiences at the University of Tsukuba and in Japan. The fruitful meeting offered an excellent opportunity for Alumni to reconnect and explore potential opportunities for further cooperation between Tunisia and Japan.
