Short-term Program
WASEDA SUMMER SESSION
Waseda University, located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, launched the Waseda Summer Session in 2014 under the theme of “Japan Studies,” and has since welcomed over 1,500 international students.
The program has gradually evolved in response to student feedback and global circumstances, and is now offered as a six-week program. Each year, nearly 200 students participate, with over 80% staying in the same dormitory, fostering a strong sense of community. The academic component offers 17 courses across 8 themes, including politics, economics, business, and culture. Students can choose 2 or 3 courses based on their interests. In addition to the lectures led by world-class faculty specializing in Japan, students can take part in a variety of activities such as a field trip to Nikko where you can explore and embrace Japan’s treasured World Heritage site, homestays in regional areas, and intercultural events with Waseda students.
The six weeks are packed with unique and immersive experiences that go far beyond those of ordinary travel. We invite you to take this opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Japanese culture.
