Nagaoka University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as “NUT”) has been established in 1976 under a new concept as an engineering university with an emphasis on its graduate school that conducts education and research directed at the development of practical
technology.
NUT’s most important mission is to create new knowledge and technologies, and to cultivate individuals with the ability to produce original ideas. To fulfill this mission, NUT will continue to be a “university of ideas”, taking the fundamental philosophy of its education and research to be the cultivation of practical and creative abilities relating to GIGAKU (the “science of technologies”), heightening creative power. Under this approach with GIGAKU, NUT will serve as a world center of education and research and aims to become an indispensable university for both local and global communities, developing leading engineers equipped with the practical and creative abilities to undertake innovative creation and the ambition to help achieve a sustainable society.

Application Procedure for Admission to the 1st Year Undergraduate Program
(Enrollment for April 2022)*
Qualification and Requirement for Application
The following qualifications are required for Applicants.

(1) Have taken the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students 2020 or 2021 conducted by the Japan Student Services Oganization, an independent administrative institution (either the first or second round of examinations for that year).The applicant must take four subjects in three categories, i.e., Japanese, Mathmatics (Course 2),and two chosen by the applicant out of the Science subjects.

(2) Must have taken, in or after January 2020, one of the following English language testes:TOEIC L&R (SP“Open Test”) or TOEFL (rPdT[ revised Paper-delivered test], iBT[Internet-based test], or iBT Special Home Edition).

(3) Have succesfully completed 12 years of education in the school system of a country other than Japan, or be expected to complete by March 31,2022.

Qualification and Requirement for Application.
The following qualifications are required for Applicants.

(1) Have successfully completed a 16-year course of school education abroad, or be expected to do so by the end of March 2023.

(2) Be deemed by the graduate school of engineering at Nagaoka University of Technology to have academic ability equal to or higher than a graduate of a Japanese university, based on the submitted documents. Be 22 years old or older as of March 31, 2023.
