Institute of Science Tokyo, Science and Engineering fields (Tokyo Institute of Technology)

Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo) is one of top national university for science and medical research in Japan with a history spanning more than 144 years. Science Tokyo was established on October 1, 2024 upon integration of Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University to become a center of international excellence in research and education.

Within approximately 10,500 students for science & engineering fields at the Ookayama, Suzukakedai and Tamachi Campuses, half are in their bachelor’s degree program while the other half are in master’s and doctoral degree programs. International students number 1,800. There are 1,100 faculty members and 600 administrative and technical staff members, ensuring student-faculty ratio of 9:1.

Science Tokyo continues to develop global leaders in the fields of science, technology and medical research and contributes to the betterment of society through its research, focusing on solutions to global issues.

Scholarships for international students currently at Science Tokyo

Japanese language education after enrollment (required or elective)

Japanese Language and Culture Courses are designed for international students, providing programs designated to build up Japanese communication skills and to deepen cultural understandings. These authorized courses are open to international undergraduate, graduate, and exchange students, and may be registered for credit. They may also be recognized as equivalent to Humanities and Social Science courses. By joining these courses, students can interact with other international students and further broaden their understanding.

The Student Support Division will assist international students from visa and status of residence upon arrival to assigning tutor for the new students. Please refer “International Student Guide” in below link.
