Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSA) has been provided education to develop specialists who helped govern and manage ocean use in Japan. Based on its motto “Voices from the Ocean” TUMSAT has focused its efforts since the merger on fulfilling its mission to help Japan develop as a maritime nation and play a role in its contributions to the international community. From this fundamental perspective, we offer students opportunities for comprehensive education and research related to the ocean with a focus on the development of highly specialized researchers and professionals. Our aim is to form an internationally outstanding center for marine education and research in order to develop specialists who will play leading roles in industry, government and academia in international settings. Degree Programs in English
Most of the lectures in the Graduate School of Marine Science and Technology are offered in English. Students can complete their degree in English only.
The Course of Applied Marine Bioscience, one of the doctoral courses in TUMSAT, offers special program “Human Resource Development Program for the Promotion of Export Marin Products”. The program mainly recruits the students from Middle East Countries and the capacity of scholarship applicants are 5 persons/year. [Program period: AY 2019-AY2021]
