Tokai University
Tokai University is a private university established by Dr. Shigeyoshi Matsumae in1942 to nurture young people who can contribute to the world peace. Tokai University consists of 7 campuses in Sapporo, Takanawa, Yoyogi, Shonan, Isehara, Shimizu, and Kumamoto, which are composed of 19 undergraduate schools made up of 75 majors and 19 graduate schools. The total student population is about 30,000 and 1100 of those are international students. Tokai University has six offices abroad (Denmark, Vienna, Hawaii, Korea, Thailand and
Vladivostok), and maintains academic exchange agreements with more than 125 universities/organizations in 39 countries.

Degree Programs in English
Doctoral degree courses in Graduate School of Science and Technology, Earth and Environmental Science, Bioscience, and master’s degree courses in Graduate School of Engineering (except Biomedical Engineering course) are conducted in English. All graduate courses except the courses mentioned above shall be conducted in Japanese.

Exchange Student Programs
Tokai University maintains academic exchange agreement with 125 universities/organizations in 39 countries. A wide range of international exchange activities are being actively pursued, from those on the academic front involving students, researchers, joint-research project, and the exchange of academic resources, to cultural and athletic exchange. There are 59 courses in the study abroad program and we send around 300 students abroad a year.
