Doshisha was founded by Joseph Hardy Neesima in 1875 as the first Japanese school advocating the teaching of Christianity. Our founding spirit consists of three main principles: Christianity, Liberalism, and Internationalism. Doshisha has more than 29,000 students, and about 1,400 of them are from outside Japan.

Dormitory

Doshisha University rents part of a private apartment building and provides housing for international students. In addition, we manage a student dormitory called “Keishiryo Dormitory,” which serves as a place for character development through multicultural coexistence and intergenerational living with the local community.
