Hosei University, founded in 1880 as the Tokyo School of Law, is a prestigious private university located in Tokyo, Japan.
Hosei University has three campuses, all situated in Tokyo. Most English-based degree programs are offered at the Ichigaya Campus, which is located in the heart of the city.
Across the three campuses, Hosei University offers 15 faculties and 38 departments with a top-tier curriculum and is widely recognized for its excellence in education and research.
Among approximately 800 universities in Japan, Hosei was selected as one of the Top Global Universities and continues to make strong efforts toward internationalization.
As of 2024, Hosei University is home to 1,717 international students and has partnerships with 262 universities in 50 countries and regions.
There are nearly 800 classes conducted in English, and the university strives to offer a diverse and globally minded education.

Financial aid and Tuition Waiver

Hosei university offers various scholarship options for international students.
One representative example is a 30% tuition reduction. Students who hold a valid student visa and are enrolled at Hosei University are automatically eligible for this scholarship.
In addition to the tuition waiver, Hosei offers over 40 scholarships annually exclusively for international students.Scholarship offerings may vary each year. Please note that all scholarships must be applied for after enrollment.

Tuition Reduction System and Scholarships

Japanese language education after enrollment (required or elective)

Depending on the program and each student’s Japanese proficiency, Japanese language classes are available to all students who wish to take them.
Courses are systematically offered from beginner level to business-level Japanese, targeting students who wish to work in Japan after graduation.
In some degree programs, taking Japanese language courses is mandatory.

Dormitory
